Contribute to

New Zealand’s National Action Plan
for Open Government

The State Services Commission have commissioned engage2 to raise awareness about the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and invite New Zealanders to participate in the development of the National Action Plan (NAP).

We have designed an engagement process to encourage people interested in the open government principles to comment on the proposed background and vision sections of the NAP, to suggest actions and to work with government officials to co-create recommendations for government to consider for inclusion in New Zealand’s second National Action Plan.

Over the next six weeks we will be:

  • Identifying people interested in open government, and the themes being discussed, and inviting their participation in the OGP NAP process
  • Raising awareness about open government in New Zealand and the opportunity to contribute to the NAP
  • Working with people who want to participate to ensure their input is useful and considered
  • Capturing and analysing input shared throughout the engagement process in an open and transparent way
  • Encouraging collaboration between government and New Zealand communities

The project will progress through four stages, which are shown in the timeline, here, and those interested will have multiple opportunities to contribute their thoughts.

To stay up to date about the project please register your interest here. You will be invited to participate through various online channels and receive regular updates about the project with further information on how you may participate.

We hope you will suggest an action to be considered for inclusion in the National Action Plan here. You can also comment on the draft background for OGP NAP development and consultation here. We will be hosting teleconferences and workshops from 15-24 August based on common themes that emerge from suggested actions. We invite you to share your ideas, connect with other participants and feedback on their suggestions during the call. The co-creation workshop will be held on 26 August. Register to join us in the event calendar here.

We encourage you to help promote this opportunity to contribute to New Zealand’s National Action Plan for the Open Government Partnership. Please contact us if you require information in any specific format for your networks, or if you would like someone to talk about OGP at your event.
